Each week I get a copy 0f The Felder Report, sent free from www.thefeldreport.com. This week he reported some of the indicators which are of concern. They do not present a positive picture. The first four are: 1. The S&P500 median price to sales ratio – a record. 2. Bond yields are current lower than inflation – first time in 30 years. 3. Corporate America is now more leveraged than ever. 4. Junk bonds officially haved entered “Bubble” territory.

IBD TBP’s Market Pulse is “Confirmed uptrend” as of 21Sep. Time to invest if it stays this way for the next week. Personally I do not believe it will, but will invest next weekend IF it remains the same.

My current investments:
IRA#1 and IRA#2
SMedicalEquipment&Sytems has a price of 43.54, a sell price of 41.36, a rank of 03, and is a hold. (ETF – IHI current stoploss 136.01)

Gary Kaltbaum has a web site, garyk.com, with various investment ideas and a daily radio show called Investors Edge. The show is live at 6pm each night on various radio stations and BizTalk app. It is available later on a podcast, on the BizTalk as a podcast, on twitter where a tweeter called Stoolander tweets the show without commercials (37 minutes), and on his web site garykaltbaum.com. He has always indicated without the financial sector (not doing well) and the semiconductor sector (doing well) the market will not do well. He indicated that if the S&P500, currently at 2139 and below its 50 day moving average, falls to 2119 the market could be in trouble. The 200 day average is 2058. The rule of thumb is good things MAY happen if the market is below the 50 day moving average and will NOT happen if the it falls below the 200 day moving average.

IBD TBP’s Market Pulse is “Uptrend Under Pressure” as of 09Sep. NOT a time to invest. I am surprised that it had not moved to market in correction.

My current investments:
IRA#1 and IRA#2
SMedicalEquipment&Sytems has a price of 42.81, a sell price of 41.02, a rank of 02, and is a hold. (ETF – IHI current stoploss 135.25)
IRA#2
LatinAmerica has a price of 20.67, a sell price 20.73, a rank of 12, and is a SELL. (ETF – BRF – stopped out on 9/13)
SElectronics has a price of 89.07, a sell price 84.62, a rank of 01, and is a hold. ( ETF – SMH – current stoploss 62.14)
SNaturalGas has a price of 25.08, a sell price 24.95, a rank of 36, and is a hold for now. (ETF – PSCE – stopped out on 9/13)
The problem with selling LatinAmerica which I am doing this weekend is that I have not owned it for 90 days and Fidelity will charge me a 1.5% fee since I have not held it for 90 days. I have no idea if it is going up or down in the future, but this last week it fell by 2.4%, the previous week it lost 1.9%.

My portfolio changes this weekend:
IRA #1 – None
IRA #2 – Sell LatinAmerica

My portfolio market exposure after this weekend’s changes:
IRA #1 – 100% invested
IRA #2 – 60% invested

09 September 2016

On the New Wall Street Week guest Joe Grano said he expected a 10-20% decline coming in the future. After Joe, the program had two financial advisers who both had suggestions as to were you should invested to survive the decline if it came. I find it interesting. Listening to most stock market advisers there are “up markets” and “volatile markets.” Personally I plan to sell and hide in a money market fund when the “volatile market” arrives.

I have always enjoyed George Will. In this video he discusses two failing bureaucracies – the US government and US univesities. Please note that in the video he referenced the housing mortgage bubble – which the US government caused – and crash of 2007/8 and points out we now have an even bigger college loan bubble. I sort of wonder how we can expect any graduate with a large student loan who finally finds job will be able to buy thing to help the economy grow. We have governed, educated, and loaned the US into a no growth future unless the college load bubble crashes and then who knows. https://www.youtube.com/embed/Vfl4BGbMxoQ

SNaturalGas has a price of 26.01, a sell price 24.95, a rank of 09, and is a hold. (ETF – PSCE – current stoploss 16.71)
I was surprised that there were no sale prices hit. September is the worst market month during the average year. October is the month when the market turns up. However there are two interesting cycles. The first year of the presidential cycle is generally the worst of the 4 years. The two year presidential cycle says sell on the presidential election day and buy 2 yeas later during the congressional election.

In the Doug Fabian’s 26Aug “ETF Strategies” podcast, he listed 10 ETFs to own. For long term growth he suggests: OUNZ VanEck Merk Gold Trust, SLV iShares Silver Trust, ECON EGShares Emerging Markets Consumer ETF, INDY iShares India 50, and IHI iShares US Medical Devices. For income he suggests: REM iShares Mortgage Real Estate Capped – 10% yield, OUSA O’Shares FTSE US Quality Dividend ETF – 2% yield, CVY Guggenheim Multi-Asset Income ETF – 5% yield, EDIV SPDR S&P Emerging Markets Dividend ETF – 5% yield, and DWIN PowerShares DWA Tact Multi-Asst Inc – 4% yield. I have been and currently am invested in some of these.

Last week the Federal Reserve Board (FED) held its annual conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Included in the discussion was the FED purchases of US stocks, and using negative interest rates – the FED denies any intent to do either. Japan, Israel, Switzerland, Czech Republic, China and 23% of all nations are purchasing their countries stocks. Jim Grant, founder of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, notes that in the last 5000 years there has been no instance of negative rates and yet today $12T of government bonds from Japan, France, Germany, and others, have negative interest rates. He asks “If these are the first sub-zero interest rates in 5,000 years, is this the worst economy since 3,000 BC?” The purpose of these actions is to convince the public the economy is fine since the market are going up. It is difficult to figure out how this can end well.
